ASC Announces Annual Television Awards Competition

October 13, 2011

The American Society of Cinematographers (ASC) has issued a call for television entries in the 26th annual ASC Outstanding Achievement Awards competition. There are two categories: (1) The pilot or an episode of a regularly scheduled series, and (2) a television movie or miniseries. The deadline for entries is noon (PDT) on December 1.

Finalists will contend for top honors during the ASC Awards celebration here at the The Grand Ballroom at Hollywood & Highland on February 12, 2012.

“This competition is designed to celebrate the achievements of our peers who contribute to telling compelling stories under tremendous time and budget pressures,” says ASC President Michael Goi.

Submissions in the television competition must have premiere broadcast dates in the United States between December 1, 2010 and November 30, 2011.

“The evolution of households that have home theaters with large, high-definition television screens makes artful cinematography more important than ever,” adds ASC Awards Committee Chairman Richard Crudo, ASC.

At the 25th ASC Awards earlier this year, Jonathan Freeman, ASC claimed top honors in the episodic competition for the “Home” episode of HBOs Boardwalk Empire, and Stephen Windon, ACS won in the movie/miniseries category for The Pacific, “Okinawa” another HBO productio.
