Thank You Adam,

There's too much water between NY/NJ and myself to be able to walk that one .

Yet will give serious consideration to Europe 2011.

Thank You again,

Werner has a film school. From the website, "Our next Rogue Film School seminar will be held in summer 2010 in the NY/NJ area of the United States. We are also developing a European Rogue Film School seminar for early 2011."

I thank God for Herzog ! Someone who is prepared to do the extra leg work and engage all the senses to fully perceive and experience life and get whole dynamic of the story , not just looking through one eye.

Interesting top hear Herzog talk about being directed to "act" as himself, or not .

It seems that Herzog is among those artists who have a mortal fear of comfort. They rely on a continual self-infliction of hardship in order to stay alive as creative spirits -- and I can't say I blame them. I mean, what is there, really, to talk about when you're always warm and dry and sober?

His opinion on film schools reminded me of a story I once heard about John Huston: He'd given a lecture on film structure at some major west coast film school. At the end when he'd opened it up to questions, a precocious young student stood up and summarized a rather simplistic, boilerplate version of everything Huston had been trying to teach them about storytelling. 1st act, 2nd act, climax, etc.

"Is that a fair characterization of your views on storytelling, Mr. Huston?" the student asked.

Huston leaned forward and smiled, "Son, you wanna know about storytelling? I suggest you get yourself down to Tijuana and f**k yourself some whores. Then maybe you can begin to understand storytelling."

Of course, that kid is probably running a studio now.
